I have been drooling over a bunch of beautiful yarn wall hangings I’ve seen on Pinterest for months, so I decided to take matters into my own hands and create my own! I made this large wall hanging for our bedroom and I’m so happy with how it turned out! It was a fun craft to make because there aren’t really any rules. I didn’t follow any set instructions and I didn’t try to make it look perfect. I just got creative and made it up as I went along.
All you will need to make your own is an assortment of yarns (I went crazy in the knitting section of Michael’s and chose seven), a wooden dowel (I used a pretty long one, but to start out you could use a short dowel and make a mini wall hanging), twine, and scissors. That’s it! I started by tying twine in a knot on both sides of the dowel to create the “hanger.” Then I started at one end of the dowel and worked my way down, looping yarn around and pulling it tight. To add some texture I knotted one section and braided another. The rest I left pretty simple. In keeping with the “boho” aspect of this craft, I didn’t spend a ton of time measuring out the yarn. I wanted it to look somewhat uniform but also natural and imperfect. I love the way this looks on our wall and I’m so happy I went for it and made one! It was actually super relaxing to work on each night before bed while watching tv. If you end up trying this I would love to see photos! Happy crafting!
