WHAT I'VE WORN LATELY // JANUARY 2019

1/25/2019

It's Friday!! I hope you all had great weeks! I've been falling asleep while watching t.v. at night all this week so I think I'm in need of some hibernation this weekend (haha). I've also been binge-listening to this podcast, "The Dream," that I highly recommend. It's all about MLMs/pyramid schemes and it is fascinating (and scary)!

Anyways, if you won't be hibernating this weekend, here is some outfit inspiration courtesy of what I've worn lately. I'll link what I can at the end of this post. Happy shopping!

MY FAVORITE THINGS // FAVORITE CLOTHING PURCHASES OF 2018

1/18/2019

I've seen a few bloggers posting recaps of their favorite clothing purchases of 2018, and I loved it so much I'm doing the same! Isn't it the worst feeling when you spend money on something and then barely wear it?! These pieces I'm sharing below have gotten so much use in my wardrobe and can be worn in so many ways. They were worth every penny and I recommend them 100%. If you're trying to build a closet full of items you'll love and wear constantly, these are a good start. Happy shopping!

Cozy Blanket Scarf

I am obsessed with this scarf! It's so warm and oversized, it's like wrapping yourself up in a warm hug. If you live in an area with cold winters, you need a blanket scarf in your life! I promise you will wear it constantly. This one from Anthropologie is my favorite because it comes in a bunch of gorgeous colors (I have the hunter green but I also love the charcoal grey and the light pink) and the fringe detail makes it extra special. The material is super soft and the price is great!

Available at Anthropologie, $48

Lace Cami Bralette

Every woman needs a good bralette in her wardrobe. They are perfect for adding under a low-cut or sheer top when you need more coverage, or for throwing on when you're lounging around at home. I've purchased many a bralette that I ended up not liking, but this style from Carly Jean Los Angeles is my absolute favorite!! I have it in several colors and I wear them all so much. They are comfortable and hold me in place, and they look pretty layered under tops.

Available at carlyjeanlosangeles.com, $18

White Birkenstocks

I invested in these shoes last spring and I am so glad I did. I wore them allllll summer long with pretty much everything. I love the way the white pops with my outfits, and they are comfortable enough to wear when I'm on my feet all day exploring the city. They took about two wears to break in, and then they were molded to my feet and fit perfectly. I cannot recommend these shoes enough as you get your closet ready for spring and summer! They are worth every penny and will last for years.

Available at Zappos.com, $99.95

A Leather Crossbody Bag

A good leather handbag is an investment that will stay in your wardrobe for years. Last year, after my favorite black purse broke, I purchased this crossbody from Madewell. I use it almost every day in the winter and I love it! The size is small enough that I can easily toss it over my shoulder, but roomy enough that it can fit my wallet, phone, keys, gum, lipstick and a small book. The quality of Madewell bags is fantastic. I highly recommend!

Available at Madewell, $128

Denim Overall Shorts

I couldn't write this post without mentioning my trusty overall shorts! I got them at Gap last spring and wore them at least once a week all summer long. They are so comfy, but look put together, and they can be styled in so many different ways. I wore them over a crop top for a daytime bachelorette party, over t-shirts for casual weekend outings, and under cardigans and crewneck sweatshirts as the weather got chilly. They were such a great investment piece. This pair isn't available anymore, but you can find similar styles at ASOS, Urban Outfitters, and Madewell, and I'm sure Gap will have another pair this spring.

Black Leggings

A good pair of black leggings is a must! But it can be hard to find a pair that's comfy, good quality, and not too thin/sheer. In 2018, I discovered these leggings from Lou & Grey and they are my new favorites! They are lined with a super soft fleece material and are the perfect thickness. They're not too tight or high-waisted, but they're extremely comfy and flattering. I wear mine all the time, at home with my slippers and t-shirts, or outside under tunics.

Available at Lou & Grey, $39.50

MY FAVORITE THINGS // Customizable invitations from basic invite

As I scroll through my social media these days I mostly see engagement announcements, pregnancy announcements, and birth announcements. I am definitely getting to that age (haha!). Although I am not yet at any of these stages in my life, I’m sure some of you are! So, I decided to partner with this amazing website, Basic Invite, and share their services with you.

Basic Invite has the cutest templates for invitations, announcements, holiday cards, etc. and their site stands out because everything is so customizable. I always want to be unique and I tend to run away from anything generic, so I love that they give you over 180 color options when you design your invitation and an instant preview online, plus 40 different envelope colors (and their envelopes are peel and stick, so no annoying licking required). You can really make the invitation your own and reflect your personal style.

Another thing I love is their “try before you buy” custom sample service. Before you commit to ordering your invitations, they’ll actually send you a printed sample so you can see exactly what your design will look like. I feel like that takes so much of the stress away! You don’t have to place your final order until you love what you see.

Basic Invite has everything from thank you cards and stationery to wedding invitations and business cards, but I wanted to share a few of their customizable baby shower invitations with you because they are so unique and cute and so many of you are starting to have families! There are so many design options, whether your style is more intricate and bohemian (click HERE to see their bohemian baby shower invitations) or simple and clean. Check out some of my favorite designs below:

If you’re planning an event and are looking for the perfect invitation, definitely give Basic Invite a look. Right now, you can get 15% off your order with code 15FF51. If you end up ordering, I’d love to see what you design, so please share! Happy event planning! XOXO

Thank you to Basic Invite for sponsoring this post. All opinions expressed are my own.

I just wanted to take a moment to say Happy New Year to all of you, and to thank you for taking the time to visit my little corner of the internet. There are so many blogs out there, so it means a lot to me that you read mine! I plan to make it a priority to post even more inspiring, helpful, and fun-filled content this year.

My holidays were laughter-filled and restful, and I am so grateful I was able to take two weeks to slow down, relax a bit, spend time with family, friends and my boyfriend, and avoid the crowds and craziness of Manhattan. I hope you were all able to do the same!

Picture

I'm not making resolutions this year, but I do want to:
  • Continue to be kind to myself and listen to what my mind and body need
  • Focus time on things that make me happy (like this blog!)
  • and remember to stop and appreciate the little moments and pleasures throughout the daily grind.

I'm wishing all of you a peaceful, happy, and fun-filled year, and I can't wait to continue sharing my style, life, and passions with all of you! XOXO -Abby

MY FAVORITE THINGS // RITUAL VITAMINS

If you're trying to make 2019 a healthier year, you need to check out my favorite vitamin brand, Ritual!

A few years ago when I was feeling "off" and extremely anxious, I went to the doctor for blood work and found that (along with having an anxiety and panic disorder) I was deficient in a few key vitamins. I started taking a bunch of different vitamins and supplements, and it was extremely annoying trying to remember to take them all, figuring out the right time to take them so I wouldn’t get nauseous, and figuring out which nutrients I actually needed to take/how much I needed. I was always carrying around a baggy of vitamins to take with my food, and I wasn’t even sure if they were making me feel any better.

Fast forward to a few months ago when I finally caved and ordered Ritual's multivitamin for women. I had been reading tons of positive reviews about them on social media and their ads were everywhere, but their website is what sold me. They go in depth and are really transparent about where each of their nutrients come from, what they do for your body, and why women need them. Their vitamins are vegan and are formulated to work with the vitamins you already receive from your food, so you aren’t overloading your body with too much of anything, which was always a worry for me, particularly with iron.

Picture
I started taking the vitamins every morning (they send you a little sticker calendar with your first shipment to help remind you to take them) and I can honestly say I’ve noticed a difference. I found that I was waking up a bit more easily in the mornings (and I hate mornings) and even my PMS symptoms seemed to be more manageable. Another thing I love is that they use special vegan capsules that don’t dissolve until they’ve reached your small intestine, which means even when I take them first thing in the morning before I eat, I never feel nauseous, and the vitamins are released at the part of my body where they are best absorbed into my bloodstream. I take my two capsules in the morning when I wake up and I’m good for the day!

Oh! And the capsules are scented with peppermint essential oils, so they smell refreshing and amazing! So, if you’re feeling like you need a boost and are looking into vitamins, I cannot recommend Ritual enough. They offer a subscription service, so every month without doing anything I receive a fresh bottle of vitamins just as my current bottle is running on empty (for $30 per month). It has honestly been such an enjoyable experience and I really feel that it has made a difference for me.

If you give Ritual a try, let me know what you think in the comments. I hope it works for you too! Have a healthy new year! : )

PS- They've also just launched a prenatal, for all of my pregnant/thinking about getting pregnant readers!
